Seawall Inspection Services

As a waterfront property owner, you know that a healthy seawall is vital to protecting your property and that of your neighbors. At Kalvin & Calvin Marine Construction, our comprehensive and meticulous inspections are designed to detect any potential issues, ensure optimal performance, and provide options to extend the lifespan of your existing seawall.

Why is Seawall Inspection Important?

Your seawall acts as a vital barrier, protecting your property from erosive forces, wave action, and potential flooding. Over time, however, even the most well-built structures can experience wear and tear, compromising their effectiveness. Things like the weather, water pressure, and shifting soil can lead to structural weaknesses, erosion, or damage that may not be immediately visible. Regular inspections allow you to proactively identify and address these issues before they escalate, saving you from costly repairs or even complete seawall failure. Invest in professional inspection services, and ensure the long-term durability and effectiveness of your seawall.

Seawall Inspection Service Options:  (Call for pricing)

Level I Above Water Visual

  • Visually inspect the accessible portions of the seawall for pitting, spalling, and other signs of damage and risk. Includes report, pictures, and repair options, based on visual-only inspection.

Level II Underwater Photos and Anchors (Most Popular)

  • Above Water Visual (above)
  • Underwater photos of the seawall and base, as permitted. Photos will be taken with a Go Pro or similar device on a handle.
  • Anchor inspection includes locating, digging to uncover, and visually inspecting two steel tie-back anchors at the point of connection to the landside of the seawall. Includes report, pictures, and suggested options for repair, if applicable based on available information.

Level III Above Water Visual, Anchors, In Water

  • Above Water Visual
  • Underwater Photos and Anchors
  • Specialized in-water seawall inspections can help identify issues only visible through close-up inspection. Our diver-inspectors inspect the entire wall, seams and base looking for signs of erosion, missing footers and foundation mounts, wall movement at the base, and stress cracks. These inspections can also help determine the condition of the seawall and its estimated lifespan.

Each option includes a report, pictures, repair options and estimates.

Repairs Before Replacements

We prioritize safeguarding coastal properties and doing so in a way that keeps projects efficient and cost-effective. Our inspections go beyond the surface, diving into the core of a seawall's condition to determine whether the seawall can be salvaged and repaired.

We often find that repairs are more effective and economical than replacements. By identifying and addressing issues like erosion, cracking, or excessive vegetation, we can extend the life of a seawall while saving resources. With our expertise, you can trust that every dollar spent on maintenance translates into years of reinforced protection against the forces of the sea. Let us safeguard your investment and shoreline!

Why Frequent Seawall Inspections are Crucial

Identifying Hidden Issues

Seawalls are constantly exposed to the elements, including water, waves, and weather conditions. Over time, hidden issues can develop within the seawall structure, such as cracks, erosion, or structural weaknesses, that may not be immediately visible to the naked eye. Regular inspections are essential for identifying these hidden issues early on, allowing for prompt and proactive measures to address them. By detecting and addressing problems at their initial stages, you can prevent them from escalating into more severe and costly issues that could compromise the integrity of your seawall.

Preventing Seawall Failure

Seawalls are specifically designed to protect your property from erosion, wave action, and potential flooding. However, without proper maintenance and regular inspections, they can become susceptible to failure when exposed to the forces of nature. Inspections play a crucial role in identifying weak points or areas of concern within the seawall structure. By detecting these vulnerabilities, appropriate repairs or reinforcement measures can be implemented promptly, effectively preventing seawall failure and potential property damage. Regular inspections act as a proactive approach to ensure the ongoing functionality and resilience of your seawall.

Extending Seawall Lifespan

A seawall is a long-term investment that requires proper care and maintenance to maximize its lifespan. Regular inspections, combined with timely repairs and maintenance, can significantly extend the life expectancy of your seawall. By identifying and addressing issues early on, you can prevent them from deteriorating further and compromising the overall effectiveness and durability of the structure. Extending the lifespan of your seawall through regular inspections saves you from the need for premature replacement, which can be costly and disruptive. By investing in inspections and proactive maintenance, you ensure the long-term protection and value of your property.

Protecting Property Value

Seawalls are not only functional but also contribute to the overall value of coastal properties. Regular inspections play a vital role in protecting and preserving the value of your property. By promptly identifying and addressing any issues with your seawall, you demonstrate a commitment to proper maintenance and care. This attention to detail helps maintain the integrity of your property's protective barrier, ensuring it remains effective and appealing to potential buyers or tenants. By safeguarding your seawall investment through regular inspections, you enhance the long-term value and desirability of your coastal property.

Maintaining Safety

Safety is paramount when it comes to coastal properties and seawalls. A compromised seawall can pose significant risks to both your property and its occupants. Flooding, erosion, or structural damage resulting from a failing seawall can jeopardize the safety and stability of your property. Regular inspections are essential for identifying potential hazards or vulnerabilities in the seawall structure. Timely repairs and maintenance can then be carried out to mitigate these risks and ensure the safety of your property and those who reside or visit it. By prioritizing regular inspections, you prioritize the safety and well-being of everyone involved.

Complying with Regulations

Coastal water areas often have regulations and guidelines in place regarding the maintenance and inspection of seawalls, especially in Florida. Regular inspections are necessary to ensure compliance with these regulations and to avoid potential penalties or legal issues. By conducting scheduled inspections, you demonstrate your commitment to adhering to local regulations and taking responsible action to maintain the integrity and effectiveness of your seawall. Compliance with regulations not only protects you from potential legal consequences but also reinforces your commitment to environmental stewardship and the overall well-being of the coastal ecosystem.New Paragraph
